Şeyma Akarsu is a molecular neuroscientist with a PhD background spanning neuroscience, molecular and cellular biology, genetics, and biotechnology. Her research explores how neurons maintain their structure and function, with particular interests in axonal biology, microtubule dynamics, axonal transport, myelination, and protein regulation. Her work has focused on the cellular mechanisms underlying hereditary spastic paraplegia and on how disruptions in cytoskeletal and axon–glia biology contribute to neuronal dysfunction. She is interested in translating complex findings from basic research into clear, evidence-based stories that connect molecular mechanisms with broader questions in neuroscience and human disease.
